I discovered a long time ago that curtains make a big statement in a room. I also learned that they are very expensive and that I could not afford to have beautiful drapes for every room in my house, I thought. I noticed one day that shower curtains were often made out of very substantial fabric and that there are now a larger variety to choose from. They are also very wide, measuring 72"x 72". I decided to see if I could make my own curtains using a few shower curtains sewn together, divided by an accent ribbon. This way I could have a custom length drape. There are so many options and combinations, and I must say that I am very happy with the result. I was surprised to see a similar style drape at potterybarn which cost $100 per panel compared with the $30 per panel I spent, and mine are 72" wide as opposed to a standard panel width of 50". I don't think anyone would guess that my drapes started out life as lowly shower curtains.

Sitting room off the dining room. |

Dining room Since both rooms are joined, I used the same curtains. |

I decided on an emerald green accent: I like a little pop of color with the neutral pattern. |

Master bedroom. Yup, shower curtains here too! |

I just added a simple linen to complement the floral bird pattern. |
Your designs are beautiful. I love your sitting room.
