Embroidered Chambray Dress

I want to say thank you to those of you who wished me luck with my recent interview!  It went very well and it made my heart warm to hear from you:)
After such a stressful time, I'm turning to my latest fashion obsession for a reward.  I realize that in most parts of the world spring has barely come but here we had an early spring so I'm already thinking summer.  Nothing says summer better than a chambray dress.  Add some beautiful white embroidery to it and you have the perfect staple piece of the season.  I can also see it paired with white jeans and worn as a tunic or as a bathing suit cover up.

Don't these have the perfect Mexicana/bohemian vibe to them?  My brain and my dream wardrobe are already on vacation.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

Saturday Inspiration

Thought I'd share just a few images via the world wide web for this lovely Saturday on which I long to be lazy.  The laziness just isn't panning out, unfortunately.

I am kicking myself for not picking up that perfect Gap cardigan.

I love summer, but I'm looking forward to wrapping up in cozy knit blankets like this.
I've gotten mine from Pottery Barn and Marshalls.

I will definitely be sporting this look sometime in the near future...
have the jacket, have the shirt, have the hair color,
and I want navy nail polish (though I think my torso twin here is sporting black).

Here's another insta-outfit that I could wear tomorrow.  All of the pieces that are required
are already in my closet.  Somewhere.  My closet is a bit... jumbled right now.

Do you see a pattern emerging?  I adore chambray.
Love it.

And with that, I bid you adieu.  Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Minor Obsession: Chambray Shirt

image via
My girl crush on artist Inslee Haynes is going strong; how much do you love this piece?!
I like to pretend it's Rebecca and me!

A while back, I started hunting around for the perfect chambray shirt.  I wanted it to have snap buttons and be just the perfect wash.  I found one at Forever 21 that I snatched up and have been happily wearing ever since.  It goes with almost everything, pulling together an otherwise ordinary look or even dressing down a more formal look.  I am on the hunt for another chambray shirt, not because I am not happy with the one I have, but because I am so happy with it.  Wait, what?!  That's right; here is a little bit of unsolicited fashion advice: when you find a piece of clothing (or shoes, or accessories) that you really, really love, buy two.  At least.  If it is plausible, buy more than one.  This way, if one gets messed up, or lost, or worn out or something, you'll have a spare.  See?  Good advice.  So I want another chambray shirt because I wear it so much.  Even in the summer.  I expect to wear it a lot in the fall, too.  So I found another PERFECT chambray shirt at H&M, but they didn't have my size (I am pouting as I write this).  So my search continues.

Don't believe me that a good chambray shirt can go with just about anything?  Well then, take a look at this.

See? I told you so. How gorgeous does that look?!

Madewell

Oh. My. Goodness.  I got the new Madewell spring catalog in the mail today.  It is a gorgeous little catalog, full of gorgeous things that I could really use RIGHT. NOW.  Like this outfit.  Sorry for the poor picture quality; I couldn't find the outfit on their website, so I snapped a picture of it with my phone.  They have all the individual pieces (the jeans are even on sale!); I just couldn't find the outfit, put together like this.

Just look how perfect it is.  Perfection, I tell you.  Perfection.  I want the entire thing, right down to the nautical inspired belt with the anchor belt buckle.  Sigh.  There's even a $25 gift card in the catalog, courtesy of Madewell.  Very clever, Madewell Marketers, very clever indeed.  The whole outfit is around $300.  I have reservations about buying pants online without ever having tried them on*, because the last pants I bought from Zara (or was it ASOS?) ran small, and I didn't send them back, and now I'm stuck with the perfect red cigarette pants that I can't wear until I stop eating In-N-Out for dinner.  I did join a gym this past week, so maybe I'll be fitting into those pants sooner rather than later.  I figured if I'm going to keep spending money on clothes, I might as well try to look as good as possible in them.  And even though my past exercise routine (read- shaking my right foot back and forth at a rapid pace while I'm sitting down, usually snacking) has been working out for me, I know that at some point my metabolism is going to run out on me and then I will really be in a jam.  But, I digress.  And now to get back on track, here are some pictures of the individual pieces.

Get it here.

Get it here.

Here it is.

Get these here.
*I don't need to worry too much about the jeans-fitting issue for two reasons:
a) We went to Madewell today and I tried them on and they fit like a DREAM and
b) Even if I wasn't able to try them on in store, Madewell's brilliant online policy lets you return jeans free and I think even ship the new size free until you find your correct size.  Genius.
