Last Minute Christmas

Winter whites & greenery | Camille Styles
For all of you super busy people out there who think they are out of time to decorate for Christmas, think again!  I put together a few ideas that are no fuss but have maximum appeal.  First on the list is fresh greens.  This mantle above is stunning with just vases full of greens and white flowers.  All it takes is a trip to the grocery store and you have to go there anyway.

You can purchase fresh garlands at many stores and all you need is a strand or two of lights.  This will take you all of 15 minuets to complete and how beautiful are the results?

Again, fresh wreaths can be found all around and all you need to do is replace a picture on the wall with a hanging wreath to feel festive.
A bowl of pretty ornaments on the coffee table is understated but looks like Christmas.

Let's be real, it takes time to go pick out a tree and set it up at home.  Just do it and skip the ornaments.  All a fresh tree really needs is lights so it looks lovely at night.

Brown Paper Packages...

This season I'm loving simple, homespun, Christmas everything.  I love a bit of glitz and glamour as much as the next girl but, I'm thinking-- because my children are at such precious ages (8 & 5), I am feeling very nostalgic.  I love that my kiddos can help in the process more and that things don't have to be perfect to look charming.

Kid's Rooms: AKA Another Room In The House

Since I have recently finished a few children's rooms, I am in the mood to show you some amazingly beautiful little tyke spaces.  I think the perfect child's room is one that isn't ever too juvenile; kids go through phases, and what they are "into" changes rapidly.  Accents are easily changed, upholstery is not.  Please don't decorate for your child's interests, but absolutely consider their personality.  My daughter is outgoing, so I didn't give her a demure space.  I also believe that the parents are the ones that pay for everything, so why shouldn't the children's rooms match the feel of the rest of the house?  I don't mean to sound domineering on this point, but mom and dad work hard to create a beautiful home and the kids' rooms are a part of the home as a whole.

Here are my kids' rooms as they look now:

Kids' rooms can, and should, be special and timeless.
Change out the accents and this room would do for a 3 year old or an 18 year old.

Talk about smart! This nursery is perfectly appropriate for a baby (I love the colorful modern art). Add a full size bed later and there ya go.

There is nothing overdone about this little space. It could easily be changed out later.
A sweet shared bedroom. Simple and feminine.
LOVE the colors and textures

I would love to get my son this bed.
I might have to feature this whole house sometime, but this little girl's room matches it.
Longevity doesn't have to mean neutral.

It's Back, Baby!

Baby's breath seems to be making a comeback!  I ask you, was there ever a better name for a flower?  I think it is only effective on its own, I don't use it as filler with other flowers.  I am always looking for new things to put in my apothecary jars, and at $4 a bunch, baby's breath fits the bill.

I love it on the table in my sitting room, grouped together in the jars all lacy and sweet.
I can't decide if I like it better on my new dining room table though!
It is such a simple display-- not fussy, expensive or time- consuming to throw together.

Just put a little water in the bottom of the jar, stuff in the baby's breath after you cut the stems  and enjoy!  It couldn't be any easier and it makes me happy.
