All You Need Is Love

I was looking for a little Valentine inspiration and stumbled upon this Bridal Party Photo Shoot styled by charlie juliet and HANALULUCO.CO with tons of ideas I can adapt for my own purposes.  I like the black, white and pink color palette as opposed to the red and pink traditional colors for Valentine's day.

The hot pink candles, black and white table runner and vases of flowers are totally copy-cat-able!

Sweet balloon backdrop.

What a cake!  I love the little heart on the bottom.
Awww!
I can see doing something like this for my girl friends or taking bits of it and adapting it for my kids.  Either way, I'm inspired thanks to this great blog 100layercake.com.

My dad had knee replacement surgery yesterday and he is doing pretty well so far.  My son has a stomach bug, and so does Mr. Chips (our doggy).  I'm still struggling with a bad cold and, apparently, an eye infection (eww) and my daughter is still up nights with a residual cough.  Goodness.  It's all about taking care of one another these days and, what is Valentine's Day all about anyway!  I hope we are all feeling better in time to enjoy some treats.

Valentine's Day: Planning

I think Valentine's day is fun but I'm not all about over-the-top romantic (expensive) tokens of love.  I mean, I would totally accept the diamonds but I think it should be about sweet gestures.  It really is more about my kids than my husband and myself these days.  We have an anniversary for all of that, after all.  I always do a big breakfast for them and there are a couple of extra goodies but I did find a few things that I might have to include this year.

I love this idea.  I know it is more commonly used for weddings but I think it would be cute on the mantel with fresh flowers.  One with my husband and my initials and another with the kids initials.  I'm thinking I could make these myself too.
Carved Hearts - Hand Stamped Spoon - Vintage Gift - 2012 Original forsuchatimedesigns - Valentine
There is an obvious theme this year:  I do love this spoon.  Maybe done as a coffee spoon set?
Cherry-Almond Vanilla Cupcakes
I am definitely making these cherry almond vanilla cupcakes this year!  Doesn't that sound amazing?
heart shaped macarons w/ raspberries
I think we might just need a few of these macaron sandwich cookies as well.  It looks like a healthy breakfast, I mean, it has berries in it.
Gold dipped milk bottles.
More pretty vases so I can buy myself more flowers to fill them.  That's right, Valentine's day is a great excuse to get more flowers.
Rifle Paper Co. - Heart Bandit Card
This is the perfect, cheeky and sweet card for my valentine.

I know it's early, but are you planning anything for your family or significant other for Valentine's day?

Happy Valentine's Day!

I usually try to do something special for my family on Valentine's Day.  This year I thought I would do a pancake breakfast.  I had pretty much everything already on hand--remnant Valentine fabric, picture frame, chair ornaments, & LOVE letters--I brought out their little chairs and table from the playroom and placed them in front of the fireplace and TV so they could have a totally different breakfast experience (half the fun).   We had chocolate chip pancakes and fruit skewers along with their marshmallow pops and one special gift each.  Just a small way for me to show love to my family on this fun day!

I had this adorable reproduction vintage Valentine's Day fabric from a bib project long ago.  It always comes in handy to keep left over fabric lying around.  The mint frame got a bit of left over wrapping paper and the marshmallow pops where stuck into floral foam placed in a gingham bucket with ribbon.
Gwenna had been wanting this barber chair for awhile!  It doesn't show in this picture, but she was so excited!
Same in this picture--I am slow on the button, because he was really happy to get this Calvin and Hobbes book, too.  He could hardly put it down long enough to eat.

but eat they did...
My little cutie all ready for her Valentine's Day party at pre-school!

But first a little play time...

The sugar is taking affect!
Lori and I wish you a fun and memorable Valentine's Day today!

Sweet Spot Sunday: Valentine's Day Inspiration

Valentine's Day is only a few days away.  I myself don't do anything extravagant for the occasion, but I do like to make a few special things for my family and friends.  These are my inspirations this year!

Think Pink!

Kay Thompson famously sings "Think pink!  Think pink and the world is rosy red!" in the movie Funny Face.  So in honor of Valentine's Day {which is so close} and the girly girl in all of us ladies, I thought we might have a "pink moment" today!
Audrey in pink.  How fitting.

The chairs are so cheeky and fun in, what could be, a very serious room.

Don't pink flowers just make the whole space come alive?

This shade of pink on the walls is so livable.  Just a touch of blush.

The perfect feminine space to entertain the girls.
I couldn't forget to include a touch of pink in a decadent dressing room.

Just a few spots of color in an all white space.  This is my favorite way to add punchy color.
I think I might have to try this pink wall color somewhere, sometime.  It is just glowing and gorgeous.

When doing a post on pink I couldn't leave out the little misses!  How darling are the rooms above and below?
