That little birdie kissing the Cat is C.K. Dexter Haven of Chicago, Illinois.  He belongs to my brother and sister-in-law.  Isn't he sweet?

I really like this quote by Teddy Roosevelt- the grass is not
always greener on the other side, and it is important to realize what you have and to be thankful for it and to enjoy it while it is here.  I feel that, as I write post after post on things I want and things that I am obsessed with, that I may sometimes come off as greedy or ungrateful.  I would like to say that I hope I am not.  I fully realize that I have a wonderful life, full of family that I love, friends whom I adore, and times that I treasure.
This does not stop me from wanting new clothes, though!

Monday Challenge and Outfit of the Day

I thought this was rather good advice for the start of the week, and a lovely thing to challenge people to.  They are all pretty easy things, but think about how much difference they would make, either to you or to someone else.  Or both.  I think they're great ways to ensure that you have a lovely day.

This outfit, a simple navy pencil skirt, blouse, and striped jacket, works well in the summer heat.  The jacket adds structure, but can be removed.  The blouse and skirt offer a put together look that allows you to stay cool.  A gold cuff and a sock bun completes the outfit.

the birthday party we are going to today, because it is being thrown by my partner 
in crime, Rebecca, for her adorable daughter.

Relay for Life

This weekend is our local Relay for Life.  I have taken part of this event for the past several years, but this is year it means a little more to me, as I am walking in memory of someone whom we lost much too soon to cancer.  Participating in something like the Relay for Life, which is an event that helps raise both awareness and money for the fight against cancer, reminds me of how powerful we can be when we ban together and fight for each other.
