House Tour: Mill Valley

I came across this home because of an image on Pinterest--the bathroom with the stunning tile.  I found the great blog houseofearnest.com and it seems Erin also fell in love with the same bathroom and did a post on this house by hsh-interiors.com.  This "house" is a converted 1930's church...how cool is that!  Every room flows and the style is perfection.  I love this house.  Take a little tour and see if you don't.

I could just move right in!  I think my favorite parts are the living room ceiling and the butlers pantry.  What do you like best?
Friday is here and I'm so excited for the 4 day weekend ahead!  Tomorrow my family is taking photos for Christmas cards.  I hope they turn out as great as I imagine.
Happy Friday,

House Tour: 2014 Palmetto Bluff House by Suzanne Kasler

SLideahouse_2014_2
Lori and I have feature many beautiful houses on this blog but I think this one is going to be a favorite.  I came across this interview with designer Suzanne Kasler by the wonderful people over at how to decorate, a blog for Ballard Designs.  I'm sure you are aware that Kasler is a celebrity designer for the company.  She is well known for her use of sunburst mirrors and her quatrefoil chair design in many the light and bright spaces.  This house was an "idea" house as oppose to a show home where a designer is responsible for a single room.  Together with architect Ken Pursley, they created a cohesively light filled interior and jaw-dropping exterior spaces in the beautiful Carolina Lowcountry.

See more of the interview with Suzanne Kasler over at howtodecorate.com.  I am such a fan of this home and would adore living in it!
I hope your Monday is shaping up nicely.  I have a long list of things to do today and I can't wait to start crossing things off.
Enjoy,

Designer Nam Dang-Michell House Tour

Today I thought we could visit Calgary based designer Nam Dang-Michell's house.  I first came upon her work after I found the above image of her kitchen on Pinterest.  I felt that it had that perfect contemporary and traditional balance.  I found that the rest of her gorgeous home has the same mix and it is obvious that every design choice was very deliberate.

You can visit houseandhome.com to see more of this lovely home and to view other rooms designed by Dang-Michell.
We are spending the day at the lake today.  It will be lots of fun except that my husband will be with his mother as she undergoes a biopsy of a suspicious spot on her lung.  We are very sad about this because she has been cancer free for a few years now.  Here's hoping that it is not cancer again.
Have a beautiful day friends!

House Tour: Thom Filicia's Lake Home

cabin class
Over at countryliving.com Thom Filicia's amazing lake house has been featured.  I had to share it with you, just in case you haven't yet had the pleasure.  His home is a modern rustic take on lake living and he does it effortlessly.  As the temperatures swell, I am craving a home like this one!

I love the appropriately chosen nautical mirrors and bamboo chair mixed with the contemporary rug and chest.  It is very true to Thom's personal style.

The dining room is slightly more sophisticated than the rest of the house but it still totally works because of elements like the light fixture and ceiling treatment.

Another great example of mixed elements that are perfect for a lake home is the fabric on the modern chair with it's wood grain print.

I could just move right in!  I especially love the fireplace and this cozy living space above...oh, and the exterior of the house is fantastic.
What is your favorite part of this dreamy home?

Stephen Shubel: San Francisco Loft Tour

You're sure to have seen designer Stephen Shubel's work in various magazines.  His eye-catching designs are eclectic and textural.  He often uses black and white to great effect but he is also know to use white on white relying on massive stone busts and statues or other interesting pieces to tell the story.  I find that when I look at a Shubel room I want to stare and study these spaces that are historically rooted--utilizing bullion trim and Greek columns--yet modern in approach (stacks of books and snap-shots pinned to walls).

This San Francisco loft perfectly illustrates the elements of a Shubel masterpiece.
