My husband and I have never owned a dog (as a couple) and since our kids aren't babies anymore, we are considering breeds that we might like. There are so many adorable pooches out there; it's hard to decide. Not only that, but I am a bit of a neat- freak so the prospect makes me slightly nervous. It stands to reason I have been so drawn to images of precious pups lately. Here are some of my favorites!
Is a fun little pug in the cards?
A stylish little frenchie?
How about a dapper terrier?
A sad-eyed, deer of a greyhound? We have lots of property for it to canter across.
or....drum roll...a little Yorkie bundle of non-shedding sweetness? You guessed it. I'm leaning toward a Yorkshire terrier a la Audrey Hepburn's "Mr. Famous." Perhaps we might find a rescue litter. I feel better about that than buying from a breeder. Any thoughts on the subject?
Oh my goodness! How cute are these pups!?
ReplyDeleteMy in-laws have a "dapper terrier" and we call him a terrorist because he is bat sh*t cray! I would look on Petfinders for a rescue yorkie!! You would be surprised how many of them wind up at the pound. Plus the benefit of not having a purebred is that they are not as susceptible to breed specific illnesses. And if you choose to get pet insurance that works in your favor! I am a rescue mama and I still don't know who really rescued who! Good luck on your search!
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura! You are so funny and I have heard similar stories about that breed of terrier: a handful to say the least! Also, thank you for the encouragement to adopt a rescue puppy and for the information. It helps.

John and I almost adopted a Frenchie recently, but it feel through with the breeder–how I'd love a darling little monster for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI got the Frenchie image from your pin on pinterest! SO adorable. That's sad about the adoption falling through. I hope you get one in time for Christmas. That would be special.

You should add Boston Terriers to your list. They are great family dogs and they have short hair, so they're not so messy. I love mine!
ReplyDeleteI love how Bostons look so it is great to hear that they are good family dogs too!

I love puppies and all these pics are adorable! I have a beagle and she is awesome. She is amazing with kids, very smart and sweet. Great medium size too!

AWWW! Beagles are darling. It's all about getting the one with the right personality, isn't it? Such a big decision.
