A Beautiful Way to Blow Your Tax Return

So tax time has come and gone, and that means tax returns are being deposited into checking accounts all across America. I know a lot of people find tax time stressful, but then you start to hear stories about little splurges that area being made thanks to said tax returns.  I must admit that I splurged on a new purse (I went ahead and bought this Dooney & Bourke), and I've been spending a little more while shopping than I normally would.  Considering I want to replace the  flooring in my house this summer, I had better put the big spending on the back burner.
But if you've finally found yourself with a little extra cash in your account, why not treat yourself?  Go on.  Just please make sure to come back here and tell me about it, so that I can live vicariously through you!

Minor Obsession: Michael Kors

I have always been drawn to classic navy and white.  Navy has always been my absolute favorite color for clothes, even as a kid.  That's probably why I have always been drawn to Michael Kors.

Okay, I know that third pic isn't navy, but it is still so classic.  I love the clean lines and fitted cuts of the clothes, and I love that it isn't all emblazoned with the signature MK logo.  These pieces (and I guess the ads too) make me long for warmer days.  I need all of these pieces.  I can't even say which one I want more.  I want them all.
So greedy, I know.  On another note, I'm so glad it's Friday! Today Rebecca is subbing at my school in 5th grade.  She'll be right next door, and we even get to go to lunch together.  Yea!  Another bonus- this afternoon is the start of spring break, and we are kicking it off by celebrating my guy's birthday.  I can't wait to give him his gifts.  I love birthdays!
I hope you have a great weekend.

Minor Obsession: Oversized Gold Watch

image via Atlanta-Pacific
Here is proof that a Michael Kors watch is the way to go!

I have been saying for a while now that I want an over-sized gold watch, and I (along with Rebecca) have been diligently keeping a lookout everytime I go to a thrift or antique store.  I always say I'll know the perfect one when I see it, and I don't want to pay a lot for it.  What can I say?  I'm cheap.  But when I was poking around on the Michael Kors' website for my post the other day, I came to realize a couple of things:  I just may have to treat this watch as an investment piece, and Michael Kors does a phenomenal job with the classic gold watch.  I've bought a Kors watch before, but it was silver, and it was a present.  Now I think the time has come to find my own.  Here are some I am loving.
Ritz Chronograph Glitz

Lexington Chronograph

Runway Chronograph

Chain Link, Golden

They are all $250, with the exception of the last one, which is $225.  T.J. Maxx, here I come!  You can usually find a pretty good selection of Michael Kors watches at places like Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, and even Ross.  So, since I need to go pick up some thank you cards anyway, I might as well have a look see in the clearance case, right?  I'll let you know what I find!

Kors: Fall/Winter

I was poking around the old internet the other day when I saw this gorgeous picture.

The pieces are listed below.  The purse is available for pre-order here.
Gorgeous.  I think everything about this picture is gorgeous (including male model Simon Nessman)!  Don't you just love that bracelet?  And that bag.  And the coat.  And jacket, and blouse, and jeans.  And thanks to google images, I was able to track the picture back to its source, and to discover that this look is by none other than Michael Kors.  The pieces are part of the fall/winter campaign, and there are now soooo  very many things I would love to add to  my fall wardrobe.

More of the "right amount of wrong"

The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas has added another quirky commercial to its repertoire, and it's as entertaining as the first.  I am not sure how long the commercial has been out; some internet snooping says that it made its full length debut during the Grammys.  It features "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen and some more of the hotel's quirky patrons, this time poolside.

I love the mix of people and fashion; it is what you would hope to see upon visiting Las Vegas.  At least, it is along the lines of what I would hope to see when I visit Las Vegas.  Instead, you tend to see a lot of inappropriately dressed individuals walking around.  I know, I know, it's Vegas, right?  I think some people use that as an excuse to walk down the street dressed like Pretty Woman's list of "Fashion Dont's."  To them I say you can be sexy without being slutty.  Look at the blond in the commercial; her bathing suit is sexy and the cut even makes it seem a little risque, but it is not at all trashy.  All I'm saying is, There's a way to do it, people!  I like the Vegas imagined in these commercials.  It's just the right amount of wrong!  (I went for the obvious pun.  Forgive me; it's been a long day.)

Here are some high end swimsuits, available this season.  I must admit, I think some of the designer swimsuits beg the question, is it the $400+ price tag that takes a suit from trashy to sexy?  Hmmm...  Actually, I think I have a good answer:  it is not the price tag that takes something from trashy to sexy; it is the woman wearing that something.  It depends on how you wear something, how you hold yourself, and how you feel.  It's a good idea to always remember that you have to wear your clothes; do NOT let your clothes wear you!

Overtly sexy; buy it here

Balamain, available here.
See?  Sexy in a subtle way
(unless you turn to the side!)

Michael Kors; get it here
(and show off your tiny little waist- even if it isn't SO tiny,
the belt helps show off your shape and defines your waist!)

She would fit in seamlessly in that commercial.
Get the suit here.

Hello, High Waisted Shorts.  We meet again.
Buy these here and you can be sweet and sexy at the same time!
