Electric Sticker Co.

I was looking around on Etsy the other day and I came across the cutest thing- electric outlet stickers.  I know these are nothing new, but I can barely stand how cute these are!  If I had a little kid, I would put these in my house.  I think they would also be cute for a classroom- especially the Dali and Vincent ones!
Electric Sticker Co.
Oh, and Heisenberg?!  I love it!
I hope your Tuesday is going well.  We are going to a pumpkin painting event at my school tonight.  They'd better have black paint!

Artist Spotlight: Blanca Gomez

Today I am bringing you some fun art prints from etsy seller Blancucha.  Artist Blanca Gomez creates super fun works with a retro vibe.  Depending on your space, I think one would add fun and whimsy to a room.

Not Again!

I will be the first to admit that I am a bit obsessed with gallery walls.  I have one in my living room, my family room, I am planning on putting one up in my office.  Over the weekend we repainted the guest bedroom (it is now my favorite shade of Pensive Sky), and almost immediately the Cat decided (again!) to switch rooms.  This only makes about the millionth time.  The paint wasn't even dry before she had decided to switch.
So anyway, the new guest bedroom now needs new art.  And of course I want a gallery wall in there.  I didn't mean for it to happen, but then I saw these prints from Albie Designs over on Etsy and decided that they would look perfect in there, especially with the new paint color.

There's a lot more in the shop; 4 of these are just seasonal, so if you're interested, you'd better act fast because they won't be there for that long.  And at only $35 a pop, I'd say they're pretty affordable.
I hope you are having a fantastic Thursday!

On the Road Again

The Cat and I are headed back to California today after a very fun week spent in Oregon and Washington.  It is going to be a VERY long drive in the car, but since we are with good friends it will be fun.
Lots of fun typography prints to be had from Chloe Vaux
I figured since we are leaving so early, this print would be the perfect thing to share with you today.      How fun would it be in the right kitchen space?!

Minor Obsession: Gallery Wall

There is no denying that I love a good gallery wall.  So does Rebecca.  We have talked about it here, here, and here.  (And we mention it here, here, and here.) There's at least 15 posts where we mention the words "gallery wall."  So today I thought I would give you a peek at mine.  It is finally starting to come together, and I love that it is something the Cat and I can enjoy while we hang out together.  The office looks right into the living room, right at that wall, so while we are in here, working or reading or drawing, we can enjoy the art.
I thought that I would link up with Life in Grace today for Home. On Purpose.  I've posted about Edie's blog before, so I was excited to see that she was hosting a link up.

Poor quality- that's what happens when you take pictures with your phone, at night.

I have been collecting the art for this wall for quite some time.  I have a ton more stuff that might make it up there, including some pieces from my Gram.  She was an amazing self-taught artist.  I adored her and I adore her work, and I really want to display some of her pieces.
Love this painting by my Gram- I just need to find the perfect frame!

This was a quick sketch she did of my Grandfather- I love it
because I can look at it and see him doing that.

One of my very favorite pieces is the charcoal sketch of the Cat.  I love, love, love that picture.  When we went to Ireland, we paid a couple of art students to come by the hotel and sketch Alli and her friend, and that picture (along with some others in the same medium) were exactly what I had been hoping for.  It's one of my favorite things ever.

I also love the fox print directly below it.  I saw the artist's work on Glamour Mash and knew that I wanted one of Alison Fennell's paintings in my life.  (She's the artist behind Eastwitching and the creator of my adorable fox prints.)

buy him here

This print was $18, and worth every penny- it is printed on such nice material.  It is so professional.  It isn't just regular paper, like some art that you might order off of etsy comes on; it is really, really, really nice.  I adore it.  And along with the print, Alison included a lovely little note and a custom printed card featuring another one of her works.
Over on her website, she does a game called "Haystackers."  She hides a needle in one of the pictures on her etsy site, and if you find it, you email her telling her where it is, and then leave a comment on her site telling her which print you'd love to have.
I played after I received my first fox, and I won!  I got to add my little business fox to my wall.
Love him as much as I do?!  Buy him here.

I love my little fox prints; they add a touch of whimsy to my wall.  It was pretty heavy before, let me tell you- I have this pretty amazing painting of what looks like a Spanish explorer, and coupled with the zebra painting and the dark walls, it was looking very serious.  Not the look I was going for, even though this is the formal living room.  My fox prints add so much to this space.  I love them!
I've purchased white curtains for in there, I'm going to get white crown molding to put up, I need a new chandelier, and rug, and curtain rods... Definitely not done yet, but getting there!  Thank goodness for Rebecca, I tell you.  She is such a good friend and inspiration to me.  I wouldn't have even half of this done if it weren't for her help and guidance.
And a big thank you to Alison of Eastwitching for making such beautiful paintings- I love my foxes!

Inspiration: Peter Pan Collars

What do you get when you type "Peter Pan" into etsy's search engine?  You get all kinds of adorableness, that's what.  You get Peter Pan items and you get Peter Pan collars.  Both of these are things I LOVE.

from etsy shop Coline Design
This fun Peter Pan collar boasts a pretty city design, reminiscent of a London scene, so it kind of combines both the story and the accessory into one pretty little item.  I think this collar could add a lot of fun to an outfit; it would definitely give a little bit of quirkiness to an otherwise simple sweater.

Netty's Girl Vintage
This coat is probably pretty fabulous in person- orange plaid, peter pan collar, belted, and a cape/coat combination?  Gorgeous.

Day 15~ I am thankful for Netflix.  I know, not very deep, but I love being able sit down and watch marathons with the Cat.

Sweet Spot Sunday: Gin and Tonics

I found this delicious looking recipe for Blackberry & Meyer Lemon Gin and Tonics from the blog Spoon Fork Bacon.  How delicious do those look?  And how much do you love the name of that blog?!

I want to make those asap.  I will need to buy some gin.  And tonic.  And blackberries, Meyer lemons, and maybe a set of one of these adorable vintage tumblers I found on etsy.

Vintage Turquoise White and Pink Tumblers
from Debs Country Village
Dogwood Tumblers
from The Bountiful Bird

Turquoise and Gold Leaf Tumblers
from Brooklyn St Vintage

Vintage Turquoise, Pink, and White Glasses
from Owl in an Ivy Bush
Bar ware Tumblers
from Mrs Rekamepip

Love.  Especially these last ones; these I adore.  I think this last set would be perfect for a gin and tonic; some of the other glasses might be better suited for a different drink, but I still love the color schemes of pink, gold, and turquoise.

Have a happy Sunday!

Favorite Find: Etsy shop Summer Holiday Vintage

For the past couple of days, I have been popping over to etsy to create treasury lists.  Have you ever created a treasury list on etsy?  Do you even know what I am talking about?  Well, I'll tell you.  You know when you log onto etsy, the front page has rows of featured items?  They usually tend to "go together" somehow; there is some kind of theme.  Usually those items are from a featured treasury list.  Anyone with an etsy account can go around and create beautifully curated lists, from multiple sellers and shops.  It is kind of fun.  Some of those etsy members have elevated the treasury list to an art form.
So the other day, as I was poking around on etsy, a featured item happened to be these adorable pink vintage canisters.

So cute.  Get 'em here, before they're gone.
This is the treasury list that I found these on:
The title of this list is "Pink Me! Pink Meeeee!"  and it is by eried.
You can see the full list here.

The canisters come from the shop Summer Holiday Vintage.

Can you see why my heart went a-pitter patter?!  Not only do I love the items (check out that umbrella!); I also love the way they display the items. (See how the gold stands out against the grey and teal blue of the book spines?  Gorgeous!)

Vintage Umbrella with Lucite Handle
Vintage Brooch
Antique Sheet Music
Vintage Brass Peacocks
These are awesome--just ask Rebecca!

Vintage Horse Bridle- perfect for an equestrian themed gallery wall!
Vintage Silver Bowl
There are so many items that I want from this shop; the owner has a fantastic eye and I am in love with quite a few of the pieces!  Just gorgeous,  Gorgeous, I tell you!

Here is a link to a treasury list I created featuring items solely from Summer Holiday Vintage :

Hope you like it!

Minor Obsession: Alternate Histories

My brother and sister-in-law went to the Renegade Craft Fair over the weekend.  They live in Chicago, where the fair took place.  I am jealous.  Becky had a luncheon for friends and made some of my favorite foods that were made on our visit there, like this delicious ginger fruit salad and Darjeeling infused rum.  Anyway.  I was talking to my brother and asked if Becky had fun at the fair, and he said yes, but she would have had more fun if she had bought as much stuff as he did.  One thing she did get, though, was an altered map poster by etsy shop Alternate Histories.  It sounded awesome, so she gave me the info to look it up on Etsy.  Obviously I loved it, because now I am writing about it.  It is brilliant.  I am definitely ordering something so I can frame it and hang it on my soon to exist gallery wall.
The Beast in Boston Harbor
Part of what I love about these is that there is a little back story to them.  In this print, it explains that Boston Harbor had a sea monster of some sort that would periodically attack the townsfolk.  It was a brave and resourceful group that realized that the bitterness from tea leaves would kill the monster.  Unfortunately, the British mistook the dumping of the tea as an act of defiance, and a whole war began over it.
Brilliant!
The Columbian Atomic Space-Craft

I love me some Chicago World Fair history, and this print shows an atomic powered space craft that was unveiled at the fair.  Nice!
I'm thinking that I would like the the Boston Harbor print.  I can show it to my students.  How fun would that be for an assignment?!  They would have to first research and write about a real event we cover in our history class, and then provide a picture for an alternate history for the same event.  Fun.   Probably too confusing.  Oh well.  At least I can have the print hanging in my house, right?!

Lovely Clusters Spring/Summer Catalog

It's Spring time, and that means that over on the Lovely Clusters website they've been gearing up to put out their seasonal catalog, full of lovely little curations comprised of handmade goodies and vintage items.  I am really excited about this year's Spring/Summer catalog, because it features a curation by yours truly!  That's right; there is a pretty little spread in there by Desert Girls Vintage!

Lovely Clusters Spring/Summer 2012 Catalog http://issuu.com/lovelyclusters/docs/lc-summerspring2012

I love all the items that are featured in our curation; especially that crocheted bracelet (also a favorite of Rebecca's) and that vintage picture of the soldier.  It was fun putting it together, too, what with all of the items to choose from!  So go on, go check out this year's  Lovely Clusters Spring/Summer 2012 catalog, and tell us what you think!

Here are some more items that you'll find inside...

Toy Soldiers

Alli and I both love toy soldiers, and when I was looking through the April issue of Country Living magazine there was a house showcased in which the owner used little vintage toy soldiers in her decorating.  I've gathered some items from etsy that could be fun to incorporate into your decorating.

How cute is this vintage wooden Easter egg from The Garden Barn?!
You open it up and it has a toy soldier skittle game inside!

Vintage Skittles Wooden Soldiers Bowling Game-
fun little desktop accessory.
 Available here

Cath Kidson "Guards Kids Suitcase" $40

I think these would be fun to incorporate into your decor.
Available here
Napoleon style soldier costumes vintage stamps frm arty pharty.
I saw a picture in a magazine where the home owner had bought a bunch
of vintage stamps at an antique show and then  made a kind of collage out of
similarly hued stamps.  This etsy shop has a slew of vintage stamps that could be used for the same sort of project.
available at 86 Home

Awwww, look at their sweet little mustachio'd faces.
