Pantone's Color of the Year: Orchid

pinterest.com
Part of me is a little rebellious about Pantone taking it upon themselves to choose the "popular" color for the year.  The trendy, cool kid color that says "2014."  I love pretty much all colors in the right spots so I don't really believe in "it" colors; but I must say that I get just a little bit giddy to hear which color it will be every year.  I can't help myself--it's style related so I'm a sucker even though, in principle, I shun the idea.
A few weeks back the color of the year was announced...orchid is the winner.  I personally (like I said before) love the shade in the right space.  I think it is a stunning accent color and plays well with all shades of lavender and pink.  It looks stunning with green, yellow and blue so what's not to love!

What do you think of the "color of the year" concept?  What do you think of the choice of orchid?

  1. Well huh, I think it kicked out my last comment! I kind of like the concept of a "color of the year"--it's fun and it revives my interest in fashion at a time of the year when I really just want to sit around in sweats!!!! I don't usually like purple but I'm kind of psyched about their choice. I think it has enough pink in in to work for me.
